Psychiatric medication management in Austin

Understand your options, monitor how you feel, and make informed medication decisions.

Hands placing medication into a pill organizer

Medication management is ongoing care, not simply a refill. TMS of Austin offers visits to discuss psychiatric medications, assess how treatment is working in everyday life, and consider changes when the benefits or side effects are not meeting your needs.

Request a medication-management visit and let us know whether you prefer a virtual or in-person appointment. Our team will confirm the provider, format, and availability.

When contacting us, tell us which service you’re interested in and your preferred day and time. Our team will review your request and contact you to confirm the next step. Submitting a request does not book an appointment.

When a medication review may help

A review may be useful if you are considering medication, have ongoing symptoms, experience unwanted effects, or want to understand a treatment you already take. Bring up practical concerns too, including affordability, missed doses, sleep, work, and other medicines or supplements.

Your first review and follow-up visits

Before your appointment, bring an up-to-date medication list with doses, previous trials, allergies, pharmacy information, and any relevant records. During the visit, your clinician can review your history, symptoms, response, and safety considerations before discussing options.

At follow-ups, describe both improvements and difficulties. A simple record of sleep, symptoms, and side effects can make that conversation more useful. Ask whether your medication requires physical checks or lab monitoring and how often you should return.

Realistic expectations and safe changes

Response and side effects vary. Some medications take time to help, and finding a suitable approach can involve more than one trial. Medication may be combined with psychotherapy or other care. Do not stop, taper, or change your dose on your own; discuss a plan with your prescribing clinician.

Refills, scheduling, and cost

Existing patients can use the website's refill-request form. Sending a request does not confirm that a prescription has been issued. Ask the office about processing time and follow-up requirements before you run out.

Visit fees and pharmacy costs are separate considerations. Coverage, deductibles, the prescribed medication, and any required monitoring can affect your total cost. The office and your pharmacy can help clarify charges; no medication or visit price is promised on this page.

Medication management questions

Can you help me discuss tapering medication?

Yes, you can request a review of whether a change is appropriate. Any taper must be individualized by the prescriber; an appointment request does not guarantee a reduction or discontinuation.

Is medication management the same as psychotherapy?

No. Medication visits focus on prescribing decisions, response, and safety. Psychotherapy uses structured conversation and therapeutic approaches to address thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Ask whether separate therapy visits would be useful.

How long are visits and how often will I return?

The schedule depends on your needs, the stage of treatment, and the provider. Confirm the visit length and expected follow-up interval when the appointment is arranged.
